Are you a moving company?
Yes — Boston House Movers is a fully licensed and insured local moving company based in Lynn, MA. We run our own trucks and uniformed crews on every job, with MA DPU and USDOT/MC authority on file.
How much does a local move in Lynn cost?
Local moves start at $149/hour for a 2-mover crew including the truck, blankets, and tools. Most 1–2 bedroom apartments take 2–4 hours; 3-bedroom houses typically run 4–6 hours. We also offer flat-rate quotes after a walkthrough or virtual estimate.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend 2–3 weeks for weekend moves (our busiest times). Weekday and mid-month moves can often be booked with just a few days’ notice. We do accommodate last-minute and same-day moves when crew availability allows.
What kinds of moves do you handle?
Local Greater Boston, intrastate Massachusetts, and long-distance from Lynn to anywhere in the US. Specialty items (piano, gun safe, antiques) included. We also offer packing services, short-term storage, and senior downsizing assistance.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry $1M cargo liability coverage on every move. Full Value Protection is available as a paid upgrade — usually $30–$80 premium depending on declared value. We’re also bonded and carry general liability and workers’ comp. COIs for condo associations and HOAs are issued same-day.
Do I need to be there on moving day?
We strongly recommend being present at both origin and destination, but if that’s not possible, you can designate an authorized representative. We’ll do a walkthrough inventory at pickup and a sign-off at delivery either way.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We ask for 48 hours’ notice for cancellations at no charge. Reschedules are free as long as the new date is available. Weekend slots fill up fast, so the sooner you let us know, the better we can accommodate.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover), debit cards, certified checks, and cash. No deposit is required to book — payment is collected at delivery once you’ve inspected everything and signed off.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Every move includes basic valuation coverage. If something is damaged, notify your crew chief on the spot — we document it on the inventory sheet and file the claim immediately. Most claims are resolved within 5–7 business days. Full Value Protection is available as a paid upgrade for high-value items.
