Moving in Melrose
Melrose is a family-oriented residential community about 15 minutes from our Lynn office. With tree-lined streets, well-maintained single-family homes, and a charming downtown, Melrose is one of the most pleasant towns to move in on the North Shore.
Melrose housing and access
The majority of Melrose housing is single-family homes with driveways, which makes truck access straightforward. Streets are wide and well-maintained. The neighborhoods around Melrose Highlands and Wyoming Hill sit on steeper terrain, but driveways are designed to accommodate vehicles.
Near the commuter rail stations — Melrose/Cedar Park, Melrose Highlands, and Wyoming Hill — there are apartment buildings and multi-family homes. These are typically well-maintained buildings with reasonable stairway widths.
Melrose-specific tips
- Melrose Highlands: Homes on the hill have steeper driveways. We scout the driveway grade before positioning the truck and may stage on the street if the grade is too steep.
- Main Street downtown: If your move involves a building on Main Street, morning starts avoid the metered parking congestion and foot traffic.
- Basement and attic items: Many Melrose homes have finished basements and usable attics. Be sure to include these items in your inventory when requesting a quote — they add time and volume to the job.
