The Boston-to-Chicago corridor
Boston to Chicago is a 980-mile route that we handle regularly. Our truck takes I-90 West — the Massachusetts Turnpike — through New York, across Pennsylvania and Ohio, and into Illinois. It is one of the most straightforward long-distance corridors in the country, and our drivers know it well.
What this move involves
At just under 1,000 miles, the Boston-to-Chicago route is a solid two-day drive in a loaded truck. This is an interstate move under FMCSA regulations. Our crew loads at your North Shore home and the truck heads west, typically arriving in the Chicago area within 2-4 business days.
All tolls along the route — Massachusetts Turnpike, New York Thruway, Ohio Turnpike, and Indiana Toll Road — are included in your flat-rate quote.
Chicago-specific logistics
Chicago has its own set of moving logistics that differ from East Coast cities. Most Chicago neighborhoods require a temporary street parking permit for moving trucks — without one, you risk a ticket and tow. We handle the permit application through the local alderman office, but permits require 3-5 business days of advance notice.
For high-rise buildings in the Loop, River North, Lincoln Park, and along Lake Shore Drive, we coordinate freight elevator reservations and COI paperwork. Some buildings have strict delivery windows and require advance scheduling. We manage all of this before the truck leaves Massachusetts.
