A neighborhood moving company built on showing up
Boston House Movers started in 2012 when Brian Callahan left a six-year stint on crew for a large Boston van line and bought his first 26-foot truck. The idea was simple: run a local outfit that doesn’t overcharge, doesn’t show up late, and treats your furniture like it matters.
Fourteen years later the idea hasn’t changed — just the scale. We now run a fleet of four trucks (two 26-ft box trucks, one 20-ft for tight-access jobs, and one cargo van for studio and single-item moves) out of our Lynn headquarters at 45 Lynnway, Suite 210. The office handles scheduling, dispatch, and customer service Monday through Saturday.
The crew behind every move
We employ 14 full-time movers — no day-labor, no temp agencies, no subcontractors. Five of those are crew chiefs with an average tenure of seven years. Every crew member is background-checked, drug-tested, CORI-cleared, and trained in-house before they touch a customer’s belongings.
| Role | Team size | Experience |
|---|---|---|
| Crew chiefs | 5 | Avg 7 years with BHM |
| Movers | 9 | Avg 3+ years |
| Office & dispatch | 2 (incl. Brian) | Full-time, Mon–Sat |
Our crew chiefs run the job — they walk the house before loading, decide the truck layout, and handle specialty items (pianos, gun safes, marble tables, antiques). If something needs crating or extra protection, the crew chief calls it on-site. You deal with the same lead from first box to last.
What sets us apart
- Flat-rate pricing — we quote a number, put it in writing, and that is what you pay. No hourly traps, no staircase surcharges added at the door.
- $1M cargo coverage on every move. COIs for condos, HOAs, and apartment complexes issued same-day.
- Owner on every call — Brian picks up the phone, not a call center. You deal with the same person from quote to delivery.
- North Shore expertise — we know the triple-deckers in Lynn, the narrow lanes in Marblehead, the permit parking in Salem, and the Brooksby Village access rules in Peabody. Local knowledge means fewer surprises on move day.
- No subcontracting — every move is handled by our own uniformed crew in our own trucks. When you call Boston House Movers, you get Boston House Movers.
Our equipment
Every truck rolls with a full loadout: 72 moving blankets, a four-wheel dolly, an appliance dolly, floor runners, door jamb protectors, shrink wrap, and basic tools for furniture disassembly and reassembly. For specialty items we carry a piano board, heavy-duty ratchet straps, and custom-cut cardboard crating. We do not charge extra for equipment — it is included in every quote.
Licensed, bonded, and insured
Boston House Movers operates under full MA DPU intrastate authority and US DOT/MC interstate authority (USDOT / MC authority). We carry general liability, cargo liability ($1M per occurrence), and workers’ compensation coverage. We are bonded for every job we run.
Our commitment
We don’t subcontract. We don’t broker. We don’t farm work out to random crews pulled off a dispatch board. Every move — local or long-distance — is handled by our own people in our own trucks with our own equipment. That is how we have maintained a 4.9-star average across 28 verified reviews over 14 years of moving North Shore families.
If you are planning a move in the Greater Boston area or anywhere in the continental United States, request a free flat-rate quote or call our office directly. Brian or our dispatch team will have your written estimate back within one business hour.
