Boston to Washington DC — route overview
The Boston-to-DC corridor covers 440 miles along I-95, passing through seven states. It is one of the busiest interstate moving corridors on the East Coast and a route we run regularly. Our drivers know the construction zones around Baltimore, the toll plazas across New Jersey, and the Beltway merge patterns that can add an hour to a poorly timed arrival.
Pricing and delivery
Most Boston-to-DC moves range from $2,200 for a studio to $9,000 or more for a large house. Delivery is typically next-day: we pick up in the morning, the driver rests overnight per federal hours-of-service rules, and delivers the following morning. Small loads with early pickups can sometimes make same-day delivery.
DC-area delivery logistics
Washington DC has specific commercial vehicle restrictions that do not apply in most other cities. Commercial trucks are restricted on certain residential streets, and some neighborhoods require temporary parking permits from DDOT. We handle the permit applications as part of your move — no extra charge.
Northern Virginia suburbs (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax) and Maryland suburbs (Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville) are generally more accessible, though some apartment complexes require elevator reservations and COIs. We coordinate these details before move day.
